Default Endorsement required for CFIG written?

Hi all. I currently have a CFIH and commercial glider, sometime this
year I would like to get my CFIG. Question is do I need an
endorsement to take the CFIG written?
Thanks,
GB

These regs say that the applicant does not have to conform to FAR
61.185(a)(1) - which is esentially the FOI (Fundementals Of Instructing)
only.

When a local FAA inspector went for his CFIG (he already was CFI
everything else) he said that he had to take a short (25 question)
knowledge test pertaining to gliders only. He should know.

I'm still searching the regs on this. FARs are written by lawyers for
lawyers.

I have had to take short "unofficial: written tests as part of the "oral"
before a practical test. This doesn't seem unreasonable to me. If someone
can demonstrate an "official" written that is required before one can take
the practical test, I would appreciate the reference. (Given the condition
that one already has some sort of Flight Instructor rating)

He has a Commercial glider. His question was "Does he need an endorsement
to take any written." My answer is no.

and he will need to first take a Commercial Glider check ride..
before the CFIG practical... there are some places that will give both

rides
the same day.. but some FSDOs argue not to do that.
