BRSS Boomerang Trophy Update

The Blue Ridge Soaring Society's Boomerang trophy has moved.
The Boomerang has been at Front Royal, VA for nearly two years, but was retrieved by Chris Zaboji (pronounced Zah-BOY-ee). Chris performed the cross-country glider flight of 144 statute miles in about 4 and a half hours over some pretty marginal conditions. The BRSS Boomerang trophy is now back at its home in New Castle, Virginia. Come and get it before I take it back to Front Royal.

Boomerang Trophy Rules:

1) To claim the Boomerang, you must fly a minimum of 100km (50km if L/D is less than 30:1) and land at the site where the trophy resides. Straight line or dog leg flights are permissible, and FAI rules apply
2) The flight must originate within a 500km radius of New Castle, VA.
3) The longest flight of the day wins. In case of a tie distance over different courses, the best speed over the course wins.
4) Team efforts are permitted, in which case each pilots name will be engraved on the trophy.
5) A pilot may not be involved in 2 consecutive moves of the trophy.
6) When the trophy is claimed, the pilot is asked to notify the Blue Ridge Soaring Society of its new location.

On 28 July, 2019, Shane Neitzey flew from Front Royal, VA to New Castle in his new-to-him ASW-20.

Have the Boomerang rules changed? Memory says it has to stay inside SSA Region 4. Please confirm.

I don't know about official rules, but has been to North Carolina,
region 5, several times.

Reminds me of a time when the PASCO Egg visited away to Cal City because of a soar-in claim on arrival to the Spring contest. Aggrieved howls of dismay, but that prompted some interesting around-the-Sierra flying, great team work, that took it 'home'.
And it regenerated some enthusiasm for Egg pursuit. Stories. It's all about the stories . . .thanks for the sportsmanship, Rex.

The BRSS Boomerang has been moved to Merlin Aerodrome, in Amelia Court House, VA. Eric Lambert retrieved the BRSS Boomerang trophy (which has been at Front Royal for several years now)
