Any ideas on how to keep the new carpet layer attached to
the complete steel curved surface until the glue goes off apart from using the fuselage itself? |

I use 3M brand spray adhesive. It's very tacky right away and the carpet sticks as soon as it is laid on. The more you spray - the stronger the bond. Good for fuselage dolly, tail dolly, etc.

There are two general types. 1) 3M Super 77 which is for thinner non-porous materials - spray on and boom things are together forever. You won't get a second chance to adjust things. 2) Foam Fast 74 which I would recommend for porous materials like carpeting - spray on and wait for it to get tacky before placing the material, you will still have some ability to move things around for a bit of time. Watch out for over spray. I'd practice on some scrap material. Best of luck. |
