You can check it out at onlinecontest.org Now quit spamming us Al Am I the only one who finds Al's comments in very poor taste? Is there anyone who encourage my participation on this list? Al should be reminded that his use of liberty is not to squash those who differ from his own conceited opinion. It does little to encourage anyone who does anything different from himself.and shows readily that he has not bothered to do any homework nor research his obviously prejudiced statement. I ask those close to Al to remind him that the hatred he displays only shows his complete ignorance of the potential for aerodynamic gain by Jim Marske's planform. It is this kind of statement that discourages those who may have found a slightly differing path. There are times to disagree but doing it in this manner shows a complete disregard for our efforts and is most discouraging to those who dare to try something different. It also shows how the gliding community has fallen over the years and discourages anyone from being part of the gliding community. It was not that long ago when everyone rejoiced at the diversity and was both excited and encouaged by it. Now we have only one basic glider made in countries outside the USA. (I do note the apparent success of the sparowhawk which at least is one bright spark of hope.) Where is the encouraging spirit? Has Al even considered the years of work that have gone into the development that Jim Marske has done. Has he bothered to realize that the Pioneer IID was from the same era as the 1-26 and has even the same basic dimensions and samee airfoil? How does he explain the trememndous advantage the Pioneer has over the 1-26? and the Pioneer is a wood glider!!! Has he even bothered to ask Dave Welles his opinion of the Pioneer? Has he bothered to really investigate the Marske Wing. Again he hasn't but continues to bully his way. If he was a real person worthy of any merit he would publish his full name attached to his poor taste quips. Al, I like criticism but please take a little time and it based on good research and genuine interest not just opinionated hatred! Please someone put a full name to Al so I can list his comments in my History of the Marske flying wing under the Flying wing misconceptions and prejudice chapter, at least I have a chance to have the last chuckle. -mat |

Reasonable people will (and often do) disagree, but we have few enough entrepreneurs and innovators in our sport. We can afford to give them a bit of slack here at smd; particularly if they are discreet and available to share their expertise here, rather than simply push their product and disappear until next time. I generally enjoy Mat's contributions. Vaughn |

I find it in poor taste that in the WA fatality thread Mat even saw a way to
promote his "stall proof" flying wing. Mat we all know about your pioneer and its an old design that was designed to compete with the 1-26 TELL US SOMETHING NEW.. DONT KEEP BANGING ON ABOUT THAT SAME PIONEER 2D YOU DUSTED OFF 2 YEARS AGO!! Al "Vaughn" wrote in message ... "mat Redsell" wrote in message ... If flying wings are as efficient as you say, it just might perform as well as a Russia! |

The Marske PioneerIId has been doing some flight testing and cross country lately. See the Marske site for details. -mat -- Marske Flying Wings http://www.continuo.com/marske A monarch isn't a ventus, but a J3 Cub isn't a Mooney either. To be honest, the monarch looks like an incredibly fun glider to fly. We don't tell 1-26 or K-6 drivers to go away simply because they can't compete with the glass boys; Oh wait a minute, Didn't Dave Stevenson just come in third place with a K6???? Maybe a Marske can't get the xcountry range of a Ventus, but I was thrilled beyond belief when I made my first 12 mile fligh in a hang glider and made it back to the LZ. If I had time, I would love to have a J3, a Monarch, a Grumman Tiger, a Hang glider, and a K6E in addition to my LS3. Might as throw in a BMW motorcyle while I'm at it. I really wouldn't want to replace my LS3 with a Ventus. If I did, I wouldn't have an excuse for doing so poorly. :-) I am, and have always been, fascinated by the Horton Flying wing. Have you seen the aspect ratio on their last glider? It's incredible. I am curious as to the actual aspect ratio and L/D. I am glad that Marske is venturing into that realm. There is room enough in this group for all forms of soaring without a bunch of bickering. I'm glad Mat is keeping us informed. Marty Pautz |
