Wasn't anything procured underhanded. I knew where and who to ask as Chair
of the Emergency Aircraft Repair. They knew that I would stand behind its return after borrowing items for over 30 years and trust my judgment like I trusted you. It is my job to smooth our the problems convention attendees have. Neat thing is that I have many resources like the field maintenance shop, the museum, Week's Aviation, and Myer's Aviation besides all the tools and manuals that my Chapter 75 has collected over the years. Helping others is what makes EAA so great. Glad you could pass it on. -- Cy Galley - Chair, Emergency Aircraft Repair Safety Programs Editor - TC EAA Sport Pilot PS I knew that the jack had been returned as I saw it later on another trip. I was being a bit cryptic, so as to not put you on the spot as to the true origins of its' -,um, - "procurement". g I got to the site of returning it, (you can mention that site, if you wish) and a guy was trying to get a 2 and 5/16" ball with a 1 and 1/4" shank off of a receiver, so he could tow the tail section of the redtail P-51 C home, after trying to get donations for the completion of the project. We clamped it in a vise, put a big pipe wrench on it, with a granny helper, and still couldn't get it off. We used a cutting torch to cut the nut off, then I took him out to Advance Auto to get a new 2" ball. I ended helping another in need, as everyone else seems to do in the brotherhood of flight. Thanks again. All went well! Much better than my "plan". -- Jim in NC --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
