Recent updates to IGC approval documents for GNSS flight recorders
include the following: Cambridge 10, 20 and 25, Edition 5 dated 12 September 2004 Zander 940, Edition 2 dated 20 September 2004 and, to take effect on 1 October 2004: Filser LX20, Edition 6. Peschges VP8, Edition 2A Print Technik GR 1000 and GR 1000A, Edition 3 Note that the early standard of the Filser LX20, the PrintTechnik GR 1000 and Peschges VP8 are now at the IGC-approval level for "all IGC Badge and Distance Diploma flights". This level excludes world record flights. Upgraded LX20 units and the GR 1000A model retain the higher "all flights" IGC-approval level that includes world record flights. Details are in the appropriate IGC-approval documents. The complete documents are available through a link from the IGC GNSS web pages: http://www.fai.org/gliding/gnss or directly through: http://www.fai.org:81/gliding/gnss/igc_approved_frs.pdf -- Ian Strachan Chairman IGC GFA Committee |

In article 77L5d.266887$Fg5.78390@attbi_s53, Paul Remde
writes Hi Ian, Why the new document for the Cambridge GPS-NAV models 10, 20 and 25? What has changed? If you compare it with the previous document you should see some, admittedly small, changes. As you will remember, the original GFAC intention was that these legacy models should be at the "all FAI/IGC badges and distance diploma" approval level. This was over-ruled by the IGC Bureau who wished these models to retain the "all flights" level that includes evidence for world records. The recent re-issue was to avoid any confusion over this and make sure that the "all flights" level is clearly specified. In haste, I am just clearing my desk before leaving for the FAI General Conference in Madrid tomorrow ....... Regards, -- Ian Strachan |
