![]() Hi, Has anubody got any experience with XCSoar? On the face of it it appears to be a good package. Trouble is the site is currently down, anubody got any ideas why? Anybody know what will happen in 2005, according to the site, when it was working, it will be free until 2005. Since my budget does not stretch to $250 U.S I would hate to see it priced at the same level, as I would then simply not use it. Hi,
Mike Roberts no longer has time to develop XCSoar, so has kindly made it open source. You can download the source code and the final executables from the 'Files' section of the Yahoo group that he's set up. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/XCSoar/ Very few people seem to have registered so far, which is a little disappointing. Mike has given us a fantastic opportunity here, to continue the development of an already impressive program. With enough people helping out, and a good development infrastructure from the outset, there is no reason why XCSoar shouldn't thrive for years to come. All the development tools you need are freely available, so there's really no excuse not to get involved :-) For those that are interested, I've posted a message on the XCSoar group that tells you where to get hold of the various tools you need.
