Just curious if anyone out there has built a nice tail dolly for an
L-23. We now have 3 L-23s and our hanger is 2500 ft from our base of operations. Sure would be nice to rearward tow an L-23 w/ a wing wheel and tow bar from the hanger rather than using a rope and a wing walker. Existing tailwheel is just way to fragile for anything like this. Thanks Mark remove the extra "hot" to reply direct. |

It has the usual parts, fiberglass collar round the fuselage/fin with a wheel attached. A long metal spar is needed for towing and at least ours is too flexible. The length of the spar and the installation height of the collar wheel has to be matched carefully. If the car tow hook is installed very low (or heavy passengers on the backseat :-), the collar wheel will touch the ground while towing. If you need, I can provide a few photos. Perhaps you can make an improved 2nd generation solution :-) Regards, Veli-Matti http://www.piy.fi |
