Hey Michelle! And all you other lucky folks who were able to attend SNF
this year! How 'bout a PIREP or two? Anything cool introduced at the show? I can't believe you got to see the P-38 Lightning Glacier Girl flying... Sign me: Green with envy, -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Jay,
I did not attend this year. I canceled a couple weeks prior. My airplane was not up and running until last week and to rent was prohibitively expensive. I had an offer for a ride and time in a twin down but not back. I am planning on getting to OSH for at least a couple of days. Michelle :-( Jay Honeck wrote: Hey Michelle! Sign me: Green with envy, Face it Jay, it's a conspiracy to keep you from ever seeing a P-38 fly. :-) Seriously, I hope you get a chance someday. There was someone with a Steerman (225hp) that did an AWESOME air show routine, square box and spin 'to the ground'... recovering only 10' from the ground! Just when I thought I'd seen it all... this was a refreshing new routine... Note... this was not a hopp-ed up Steerman, but only 225hp!!!! Anything cool introduced at the show? Jay, you need to plan an overnight trip to Middleboro KY for a couple
days this summer. You can see Glacier Girl up close at the museum/hangar and some of us on this group could fly down and meet up with you. Then we could all fly out somewhere for some great Eastern US ribs in the Western NC/Eastern TN area. Jay Honeck wrote: Anything cool introduced at the show? I just did a search for "Middleboro, KY" in Destination Direct (my
flight planning software), and came up blank. Is there another spelling? It sounds like a great plan, otherwise. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Middlesboro is the correct spelling. As an aside, the geography near Middlesboro is unusual. One of the few towns and/or airports you'll find that is completely encircled by mountains. That's what happens at the center of an ancient meteor impact crater... The museum is nice, and there are a couple of places within walking distance where you can grab a burger. KB |
