Hi,
Just a quick message to say how saddened I am by the sudden death of Neil Lawson. Although I never met Neil in person I was always impressed by his polite and friendly manner and his generosity. As most people are aware Neil ran his own photography business at www.whiteplanes.com specialising in, but not limited to in any way, aviation photos – especially those of gliders and the spirit of soaring. As a keen but not particularly talented amateur photographer I could only look on in amazement at the quality of Neil’s work and the essence that they captured. Most readers here will also know that Neil supplied most of the photos for the calendar at www.gliderpilot.net. Something which he did without charge and without ever grumbling whenever I had to send a reminder at the end of each month to get the next month’s photo! My thoughts are with Neil’s family and friends at this difficult time and also with everyone involved in the tragic accident of a few days ago. Neil, you will be sorely missed by a community now deprived of your visual reminders of why we love our sport. Andy |
