This morning, while working out together, my 15 year old son asked (out of
the clear blue sky) if he can take a friend flying next week. Absentmindedly, I reply "Sure -- what's the guys name?" -- to which my son replied "Anna..." Yikes! His first date with a girl, and he wants to take her flying -- how's THAT for starting 'em out young? :-) Any suggestions? Did any of you guys ever fly one of your kids out on a date? -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

how's THAT for starting 'em out young? :-) At 15, you'd better start him on flight instruction. I was taking my girl friends on flying dates at 17 without my Dad. G Cheers: Paul N1431A |

Yeah, me too. One Aeronca Champ, one 17 year old and a girl named Tammy.
Problem was, her dad didn't find out until it was over and my dad grounded me from the Champ for a month. That was 1962 and there was a lot more interest in flying by young people then. The airport was full of guys, and gals, and I miss that today. "Tri-Pacer" wrote in message ... Yikes! A cop is out patrolling the local lover's lane. He sees the usual cars with
the usual steamed up windows, but there is one car with the lights on inside. He walks up to the car and sees a kid in the driver's seat reading, and a girl in the passenger side reading. He knocks on the window and the kid rolls the window down: "Evenin', officer" "Evenin, son, watcha doing?" "I'm reading a book officer" "What's the young lady doing?" "I believe she's reading a book too, officer" "How old are you, son?" "Eighteen, officer" "How old is the young lady?" "Well, officer, in exactly thirteen minutes, she's going to be eighteen too." If I found myself in that situation (my kids are 27 and 24) I'd be certain to call the girls parents just to make sure that they are O.K. with the idea of their daughter going up in "one of those little planes." I would not tell that there is no rear view mirror to watch for any "extra-aviation" activity in the back seat. wink Just my $0.02 worth. Arnold Sten |

Hmmm. I had not considered that. Probably a good idea, but that will REALLY convince my son how "uncool" we are... ;-) (As if he needed further reinforcement!) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

REALLY convince my son how "uncool" we are... Why not suggest that Joe talk to the girls parents about it and if they have any questions, they can call and speak with you or Mary? |
