Well today our mid-day run started out rather boring. The first hour we
were cruising for accidents. Nothing to be found. Then the call come in from my observers boss. Head to baltimore and see what's going on. Once we joined the party over the tunnels the fun started back and forth to see which roads were closed and how bad the backups were. After a hour and half of running around the major roads of Baltimore they opened the tunnels and we were able to head home. We flew directly over BWI and headed strait for home base. This took us over directly over Andrews AFB. Wow did the show start and I did not pack my camera in my flight bag. As we approached Andrews we saw something big in the pattern, Not abnormal. There are KC-135's and KC-10's based there. As we got closer it was apparent the plane was not a tanker. It was bigger. I looked at my observer and he looked at me. It was a VC-10 (Air Force one) doing touch and goes in the pattern! How cool. We came in at 2000 feet and the VC-10 was at 1500. It flew directly under us! All I could say was I did not pack my camera, I did not pack my camera! Damn, Damn, Damn....... I will probably never get an opportunity like that again. Michelle |

I recently got a Konica-Minolta XG. It is so small, it is not a problem to carry everywhere. It also does movies and sound recording, like a tape recorder. Very quick start up and zoom time, with 3X optical. I highly advise getting one, or something like it. You will never be without a camera again. -- Jim in NC |

You will never be without a camera again. We just picked up the 5 megapixel Canon FS450. It's 20% smaller than the tiny camera you saw me using at OSH this year, and it fits into a little pouch on my belt. I literally wear it everywhere, opposite my cell phone. I'm never without it, and literally use it daily. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I called up ADW (long before the ADIZ) and was cleared to enter Bravo "direct on course". That took me right over the field and out on the ramp was one of the VC-10s. I didn't have a camera with me, either. ![]() -- John T http://tknowlogy.com/TknoFlyer http://www.pocketgear.com/products_s...veloperid=4415 Reduce spam. Bob,
The Tower controller called it a VC-10. Michelle Bob Noel wrote: In article , "John T" wrote: It was a VC-10 (Air Force one) doing touch and goes in the pattern! How cool. That was cool. Interesting!,
I wonder why the tower called it VC-10? Not doubting what you heard Michelle, just wondering why they called it that and not by it's actual VC-25A? The two 747-200B's have the tail number of 28000 and 29000 and their official Air Force designation is VC-25A. Would the Vickers VC-10 be designated as VC-10? Wonder if the tower was just trying to NOT draw much attention to it? Patrick student SP aircraft structural mech "Michelle P" wrote in message link.net...
