Hi everyone. I have been running straight SAE 40 mineral oil since I had a
cylinder replaced. That was about 15 hours ago. My A&P says that I should think about switching to AD now. The general wisdom has been that switching to AD after break-in should be done after 25 to 50 hours. Since only one cylinder has been off, I don't think I would notice a difference in oil consumption when the rings on the new cylinder are seated. Should I just make the switch now or wait a bit longer? Thanks Matt |

You're going to ignore you mech for our advice?
Since it was just one cylinder, I vote with him. Aw, okay....."him/her" John Matt wrote: Hi everyone. I have been running straight SAE 40 mineral oil since I had a cylinder replaced. Depends to some extent on cylinder walls - Chrome often doesn't seat
until 25+. I'd follow your mechanic's advice, but would still use high power settings to make sure everything seats properly. |

follow the manufacturers recommendation.
What I've read lately it doesn't make any difference. Use whatever makes you feel good!! Paul kgyy wrote: Depends to some extent on cylinder walls - Chrome often doesn't seat until 25+.
