What are you insinuating Chris? We are all somewhat barmy. Admittedly
there could be a seasonal magnification of this condition but with global warming it will probably smooth out. But seriously, I think we should consider initiating a Paris Hilton Cup to increase public awareness of the sport and generate participation among youth. Many young people who are silently crying out for inspiration and leadership might look to a glamorous pop icon like Paris Hilton as a "Pied Piper" of sorts, potentially bringing legions of fresh impressionable teenagers to gliderports. The badge program just doesn't appeal to the modern "bling" generation. Give them something to really work for like a date with Ms. Hilton upon first solo or a fashionable tiny nervous dog as reward for successfully landing out at the shopping mall. These dogs would add a lot of awesomeness to the otherwise boring atmosphere of your typical soaring flightline and would seldom if ever get caught up in towplane propellers due to their small stature. Yes, I think we are on to something here! We need to form a committee and have representatives from the SSA and BGA approach the Hilton family ASAP. Matt Michael |
