If I install ConnectMe on my PDA to communication with my Cambridge
Model 20 Flight Recorder, will I get an IGC format file complete with G-Record acceptable to the OLC for scoring (or with .CAI file appended to the end of the record)? I'm really getting sick of having to create multiple instances of flight records just to fiddle around with DOS in order to be able to submit to the OLC... Erik Mann (P3) |

Erik,
I get a valid IGC file downloading from my Colibri, the Cambridge GPS-NAV is supported. I don't know about the Model 20. Anyway, ConnectMe is free. Download it and try. http://www.connectme.si/ Todd Smith |

Sounds like the real problem is that 20th century Cambridge doorstop
you are trying to use! Just kidding - it is getting to be a bit of a nightmare to make everything work together...I've been using a DOS emulator on my PDA to download .igc files from my SN10 (good enough for a blue smiley on OLC). Good luck, hope to see your flights on OLC soon. Kirk 66 |

Actually, I've been practicing the tried and true method of dealing
with these sorts of issues - avoidance :-) I have a Garmin GPSMAP76 that I use as a backup to my primary system. It works just fine if you use either SeeYou or G7ToWin to download. Doesn't get me points on the worldwide OLC, but all we in Aero Club Albatross really care about is kicking some butt against those jokers in Arizona Soaring Association (know anyone who fits that description). Have posted some good flights already this year. Erik P3 |

Yeah, I know some of those guys ;-)
Been there, done that, still got the ASA t-shirts! Now I'm TDY to flyover country trying to kickstart some slacker gliderpilots in the St Louis area to start logging OLC points. Uphill struggle so far, but the potential is there (posted some OLC flights this weekend). Odd for a desert rat to look out and see wet fields, snow in the ditches, and hit 10 knots at cloudbase! We flew under overcast skies (reminded me of my old east coast MASA flying Erik!) yesterday for a measily 227 kms....even Kirk flew farther in the stinking midwest for God's sake! Anyway once the ridge days quit for you guys, the 10 kt Arizona thermals begin and when we go to Ely in mass in July look out!!! ASA RULES! What we both need to worry about are those hosers in Moriarty that don't have real jobs and fly all week long! Casey Lenox KC Phoenix |
