Finally got enough of a heads up to get over and actually watch
an artifact arrive under it's own power. Fossett was the first to fly around the world solo non-stop non-refueled. The Udvar-Hazy center (the musueums Dulles center) already has two pioneering around the world panes: Wiley Post first flew solo around the world in the Lockheed Vega "Winnie Mae". And Jerri Mock became the first woman to fly solo around the world in a Cessna 180 "The Spirit of Columbus." The Voyager which Rutan & Yeager flew as the first round the world non-stop non-refuled is at the downtown branch of the musuem. I put some quick copies of the photos I took on my webpage www.ronnatalie.com |
