AVweb is reporting that a plane crashed in the DC ADIZ after ATC told
him that he had violated the ADIZ and ordered him to land at Tipton. According to ATC tapes he asked for an in-flight IFR clearance, was told he had violated the ADIZ and that he must land at Tipton, then he crashed. It will be interesting to see the accident report on this one, although it might be hard to tell if he lost control of the plane because of violating the ADIZ. I don't know if anyone would say if he was shot down. |

It will be interesting to see the accident report on this one, although
it might be hard to tell if he lost control of the plane because of violating the ADIZ. I don't know if anyone would say if he was shot down. This has been extensively discussed on the Cherokee Pilots Association's "Cherokee Chat". You can hear the ATC exchange with N9130N at the the liveatc.net archive: http://www.liveatc.net/archive.php Open the archive file for KBWI OCT 19 1930Z - it's about 12 minutes into the mp3 file. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I don't see any evidence that he crashed. Is there a news report
somewhere or something? -Robert cjcampbell wrote: AVweb is reporting that a plane crashed in the DC ADIZ after ATC told him that he had violated the ADIZ and ordered him to land at Tipton. That's a non-aviation publication, reporting on an aviation event, and not only was it reasonably factual and noninflammatory, it even managed to get in AOPA's position with respect to the ADIZ. I didn't realize such a thing could be possible. ![]() |
