Default Some Rumors...

All,

I heard this weekend some rumors that Columbia is working on known-ice
certification for the E-vade system on the 400, and that Diamond will
be producing a DA42 with larger diesel engines. Anyone know anything
more about either of these?

There was a picture of a DA-50, with a "possible 350 HP Diesel/Gasoline
engine". Prototype pictu

At one time there was rumor that Diamond was going to build a DA-42
with IO-360s. Don't know where it is in the process of it will ever
actually come out.

I've heard the same rumors about the DA42 at a local flight school that
uses Diamonds. As for the deicing, I know that the makers of the
ThermaWing have been pursuing KI certification for the Barons for
awhile now. I'm guessing that Columbia would be willing to help
bankroll the effort if it got them KI certification for the 400's.

Wasn't the Columbia one of the test platforms for the electro-static
deicing systems. Suppose to be simplier than the more GA common TKS
method.
