Interestingly, a couple of years ago it was reported that the Black Tigers of LTTE (their suicide unit) had intended to capture intact a SLAF aircraft during the July 2001 attack on Katunayake, load it with explosives and crash it into the Presidential House in Colombo. However, they were beaten off in a gunfight so they failed to get hold of the aircraft they needed (apparently a Y12). -- |
