![]() Perhaps this news will cause responsible municipalities to change their plans to close there airports: WILL AIR TAXIS FLY WITH JOE PUBLIC? (http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archive...ll.html#195198) SATSair and Linear Air believe that they have proven the air-taxi model using the Cirrus SR22 and Cessna Caravan, respectively. "Air taxis are a big opportunity," Bill Herp, Linear Air's president and CEO, said at the Business Models for VLJs and Light Jets Conference in West Palm Beach, Fla. SATSair* President and CEO Steve Hanvey, among other panelists, also shared Herp's gushing enthusiasm during a forum on how to make money with very light jets. Because of "air cab" services like SATSair, "more people can now use aviation" to get to their destination, noted Hanvey. While air taxis do provide an option to connection-laden airline flights or long car drives, the thought of flying in small airplanes simply scares some people. This fear presents a roadblock to the air-taxi industry, though Herp and Hanvey believe this barrier can be overcome by educating customers. "We need to engage a change in thinking," Hanvey pointed out. http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archive...ll.html#195198 DAYJET DISPELS AIR-TAXI MISCONCEPTIONS (http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archive...ll.html#195199) Before DayJet** begins the first very light jet air-taxi service this summer in Florida using Eclipse 500s, company President and CEO Ed Iacobucci wants to clear up some myths about the air-taxi industry. "The biggest misconception is that the air-taxi model is about the airplane," he said Tuesday at a VLJ conference in West Palm Beach, Fla. "The VLJ is evolutionary, not revolutionary. It's the VLJ price point and air-taxi business models that are revolutionary." Iacobucci believes the Eclipse 500 is the best airplane available for the air-taxi mission, which he said requires an airplane with the lowest operating costs and not the lowest per-seat costs. Further, he maintains that DayJet has a solid model for on-demand, per-seat air service. According to Iacobucci, "air taxis are a new market game" since they give travelers a heretofore unavailable option where point-to-point airline service is limited or nonexistent, prompting them to drive long hours to get to their destination. http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archive...ll.html#195199 * http://satsair.presskit247.com/index.asp The air cab concept is simple. SATSair will pick you up at the airport most convenient for you and take you where you want to go, when you want to go, at a cost you can afford. SATSair offers regional point-to-point air transportation that is safe, convenient and cost effective. Aircraft are pre-positioned strategically throughout the service area, allowing customers to board a SATSair aircraft and depart with little notice. SATSair eliminates the frustrations of crowded airline terminals, long security lines and lengthy connections. In addition, SATSair utilizes numerous airports that the airlines don't, making it exceptionally convenient for rural destinations and multiple-stop itineraries. Cirrus SR22 flights are available for $595 per hour (per 3 seats = $198/seat/hour) within the service area. Wait time charges will be billed at a rate of $70 per hour. http://www.satsair.com/ Pilots are needed for our domiciles in the eastern U.S. If you are a pilot interested in finding out more about SATSair job opportunities, please click he http://www.satsair.com/employment_pilots.php We hire only FAA commercial pilots with over 1200 hours of flight time http://www.satsair.com/images/pdfs/S...cquisition.pdf Greenville, South Carolina (November 8, 2005) – SATSair, a provider of “Air Taxi” services operated by Rhino Aviation, announced today that they have signed documents that are expected to lead to the acquisition of SATSair by Cirrus Industries. ** http://www.dayjet.com/Careers/Jobs.aspx Applying for a job at DayJet™ Corporation is easy... With DayJet services, you'll be able to fly direct to many more places – and out-of-the-way places – with speed and ease. http://www.usatoday.com/money/biztra...jet-usat_x.htm DayJet, of Delray Beach, Fla., will marry two advanced technologies: Very Light Jet (VLJ) aircraft, which can seat four passengers and operate at half the cost of today's small jets; and sophisticated computer databases that can determine the most efficient ways to route those aircraft to pick up customers. The service will be halfway between a private jet charter and an airline, says DayJet CEO Ed Iacobucci, founder of software company Citrix Systems. $200/hour/seat just for a Cirrus SR22. Ouch, what will the VLJ costs
be? If there's a demand for this it won't be from Joe and Jane Sixpack and the kids going from Timbuk to Smallsville to visit Gramma. -- If you ever crawl inside an old hollow log and go to sleep, and while you're in there some guys come and seal up both ends and then put it on a truck and take it to another city, boy, I don't know what to tell you. - Jack Handey |

One such service with the Cirrus has already gone belly up. Plus $200
per seat per hour for a stupid Cirrus? That's the very definition of no chance.
