Any emample, is it possible, how , how expensive ? Almost any repair is posible in fiberglass. Spar repairs are not too difficult. Get an estimate from a reliable shop. I once saw a Diamont repaired after it was delivered to the shop in wheelbarrows - no piece was bigger than 2 meters. So, yeah, it can be done. I doubt that it was economical though. It was more a labor of love. Bill Daniels |

I have repaired a couple of broken spars (severed), but they were near
the tip, like 60" in. The only authorization I have ever seen was in a Schleicher Repair manual which stated; 100:1 scarf angle at the tip and 400:1 at the root. On a 15 meter bird with a 1/2 deep spar cap, thats 200" or 16.6 feet (2/3 semi-span)! Of course the skin must be removed to expose the spar cap. The other wing can be used to set the jig and your work can be tested by sand bagging it to 5.3 G's. Is it economically viable? NO!
