Whew! Okay, you guys in the Southwest don't need to share
EVERYTHING. It was 94 degree here at 11 AM, with enough humidity to curl my ever- diminishing hair. Even though it's a beautiful day here, Unicom is dead -- ain't nobody flying till the sun gets lower... On the flip side, our outdoor pool here at the inn -- normally so useless -- is absolutely PACKED. It's supposed to be even hotter tomorrow -- just in time for our local R/C flying club's annual airshow. (And their airfield is located right next to the county dump -- whoo-whee, ain't THAT gonna smell good? :-) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Yesterday I had to do 2 flights in a C-152 with a leaking heater when the nearest METAR was reading 41 C. And it was at dusk. For you metrically impaired, 41 C is almost 106 F. The worst is the flight school I work at makes everyone fly wearing uniforms. Long black pants, white shirt, and black tie. The only way to do it without passing out of heat stroke is to climb up to 5000 feet where its only in the upper 80s, and open both windows. Its noisy and you're still sweating, but it's all you can do. |
