Re-reading Chuck Yeager's book, I just got to the page where he said he
flew hundreds of refueling hookups at Edwards during the training of the
first boomers in the AF.

Did some checking, the flights were done with the KC-97 and Yeager appears
to have been flying the B-47 during the boom operator refueling training.

but that does appear to be the south end of the lakebed at Edwards in the
photo.
