Default 86 year old pilot and inventor.... must see tv

This was on cbs last night-- just a great story on a ww2 vet who used
his knowledge of aviation to invent the respirator

From a humanitarian viewpoint, perhaps the
greatest individual inventor that ever lived.

His contribution to premature infant survival
is understated in the article. Death rates
of preemies went from 65-70 percent to about
10 percent with the use of his machine. An
absolutely stunning success.

Gotta believe his parents had a sense of humor when they named him
Forrest Bird. His contribution to the world of medicine just about
ranks up there with the invention of the wheel. But, as a teenager,
his formation flight with the Hindenburg just hours before it was
destroyed is a once in a lifetime encounter. Fascinating...
