Urinalysis Drug Tests
Testing is most frequently performed on small samples of urine, although hair, saliva, and blood can also be used. Urine samples are collected by personnel under carefully controlled circumstances to avoid mismatches resulting in false positives, and to prevent adulteration of the specimen by the swapping of samples or the addition of foreign substances. In particular, urine samples heavily diluted with water can skewer results, and so highly diluted specimens are routinely rejected. In certain legal cases involving individuals known to be repeat drug offenders, personnel are usually required to witness the sample being provided in order to ensure that no adulteration has taken place. Samples can be tested at the same site in which they were provided. More frequently, it is shipped to a large facility that specializes in mass-testing specimens. Care must be taken in shipping to ensure the integrity of the specimen, and those that indicate contamination are not processed. A special tamper-proof seal is routinely placed on bottles to indicate whether or not this has occurred. A urinalysis test is then run to indicate the presence of various chemicals within the sample. This initial procedure is known as the screening test. A positive result for any of the substances marked for testing will result in the sample being run for a confirmation test. In this case, more advanced and expensive processes are used to ensure the validity of the positive result. A common process used in this second stage is GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectometry) in which the sample is analyzed at a molecular level for the specific substance that tested positive in the screening; GC/MS is known to be highly reliable. http://www.askstar.com.cn/health/Drug-Testing.htm |

Legalize and control Pot. The dumbest thing in the world is
allowing LIQUOR at AIRPORTS but crucifying pot smokers I have been slammed drunk on tequila and high as a kite on pot during my brain dead youth IF? in an extreme life saving emergency had to fly situation in IFR in one of those stoned conditions it would be POT hands down. Neither should be tolerated in the cockpit but drug LAWS should not be worse on society than the drugs themselves. Marijuana is not as bad as booze. You will FALL ASLEEP way before you get as physically incapacitated as liquor and beer. I have seen people ****ing drunk ready to conquer the moon and climb in the cockpit. People who are high on marijuana eat and talk about religion and Pluto. If they do drive its up the road to Dairy Queen and they will not go over 30 miles an hour LEGALIZE MARIJUANA or get rid of Liquor. What you have now going on in America regarding MARIJUANA is a MASSIVE SCAM. http://marijuana.drugwarrant.com/ |

Not that it will ever matter one jot if you were to down a fistful of ecstacy tablets, then. Please do, BTW. Not that anyone will notice any change in your behaviour Bertie |

I say 24 hours from bottle to throttle not 8. What I do on Friday night is nobody's business. What I do right before getting in the left seat on Monday is everybody's business. We don't need Government to tell us that we need peer pressure. If you smoke pot or get liquored up STAY HOME |

I consider 24 hours a minimum; or, more specifically, however long it takes to get 0.00 alcohol on a blood test (as opposed to a specific time limit). What I do on Friday night is nobody's business. What I do right before getting in the left seat on Monday is everybody's business. Yes, as long as you don't get so drunk on Friday that you still have alcohol in your blood on Monday. The same applies to other drugs that might impair the pilot (not just recreational or illicit drugs, although those are the most important problem). |
