Is this also Mutke's jet? Would this be the a/c in which he made the claim
that he broke the sound barrier in a dive? I was in brief contact with him a
few years ago concerning an incident involving JG7 and the 452nd BG on March
19, 1945 during a bombing raid on Zwickau.

Great series! Keep 'em coming! I am hoping to find a photo of NASM's "Yellow
7" of JG7 taken before the end of the war while still in Luftwaffe hands.

Thanks,
Tony P.

Didn't seem right so I looked it up. He was flying "White 9" of III./EJG2 on
9 Apr 45 when he allegedly exceeded the barrier in a steep dive while in
pursuit of a P-51. I am also saddened to learn of his passing in April of
2004.

Tony P.
