Default same C-130 landing on my roof

I'm President of the Homeowners' Association and even with all of my pull I
can't get the Architectural Review Committee to approve my plans for a
raised deck over the roof. What I think I'm going to do later in the year
is get a neighbor who has a scissor lift Genie to bring it to my driveway
the night before a Blue Angel practice session. Then, the next morning, I
will rise above the pines and be level with #5 when he does the sneak pass
past the house!! Gosh, I can see the insurance claim now "claimant was
sucked off of a raised mechancial platform by F/A-18A doing Mach 0.97 and
subsequently collided with Mother Earth while trying to shield a camera from
impact damage......" Tom

So, when are you going to get around to building that sundeck on top of
your roof to obtain unobstructed images?
Seems the the perfect place to relax in the evening with a beverage.
I'll bet you could even see the runway lights at night!

Go for it! I got a spare Huey gunner's harness around the basement
someplace ... that'll keep you tied in...

Cheers,

Dave

Dave, just what is "monkey-line" made of, anyway?
Are there different grades?

It is a harness which looks similar to a parachute harness; there is a
large "D" Ring at the center of the back to which is fastened a 2" web
tether. All of which is manufactured from Parachute grade ripstop
webbing. If one is really "safety conscious" one has two tethers, one
to the static line post on either side. If one is really an idiot, one
will not wear one at all.

I lost an almost brand new Rolleiflex 2.8F with hand grip and
porro-prism which I had just purchased from the PX Catalog. We were
someplace over some ******** around Dong Ha and my buddy Chas. "Smitty"
Smith, WO1 (later CW4) in the left-hand seat somehow managed to place us
into a position where I was staring straight down at the ground some 500
feet below. I had two choices, drop the camera and hold on, or take
some really dramatic photos on my way down to meet the North Vietnamese
Army who were, incidentally, insolently and disrespectfully shooting at
us in a very hostile and aggravating manner. Since we were flying a
rather elderly UH1B, other stuff started to fall off or out of the
orinthopter, so we thereupon departed the area and called for some B52's
or Spads (AD-1's) or maybe a couple of B36's with Lancasters on the
side. And a marvelous time was had by all, to be sure.

Oh yeah, the Army refused to reimburse me for the "combat loss" of a
personal camera. I got back later and stole an Ice Machine for our
hootch and then discovered we didn't have 220 volts three-phase to run it.

Cheers,

Dave
