Sadly, I report that Gunnar Blanke, former SSA Governor for Colorado
and long-time Soaring Society of Boulder member, passed away suddenly
last evening.

Gunnar was a avid promoter of soaring, always helping pilots, new and
seasoned, and giving rides to those showing an interest. He posted
occasionally here.

Gunnar will be greatly missed, but it was a pleasure to have known
him.

I'm hoping this is an April Fools story. Matt Michael

No, our club is mourning Gunnar's death. He was a passionate and
informative sailplane pilot (check his OLC record). He was an engaging
and fun individual to be around. Never alone at the field, he would
have a small crowd around him because that's where the entertainment
was. :-)
His departing is all our loss.
