The display line is out to sea running parallel to the shoreline, with a sea wall behind the beach that makes for both a vantage point and a seat when the legs begin to tire, so there are some good clear views to be had. -- Dave not-me should be djw001 and there's no need for any wossname |

Great set of images.!!
I plan to visit England next summer, so I shall have to see if I can arrange to be there when the Vulcan is displaying at an airshow. Does anyone have any idea of the show schedule for 2009? I know it's a long time in advance but I would like to get a general idea. Cheers, Indrek Aavisto -- Criticism is easy; achievement is difficult. W.S. Churchill |

I doubt that the Vulcan's operators know themselves what the schedule will be just yet. Flying something like this doesn't come cheap, so what kind of schedule they'll be able to manage next year is *very* dependent on sponsorship and fund raising. All the same, I can make an educated *guess* that two shows are likely to be high on the list of priorities: Waddington International Airshow, Lincolnshire, 4th / 5th July 2009 (http://www.waddingtonairshow.co.uk/) Waddington is closely associated with the Vulcan. It was the base for the last Vulcans in operational service and lays claim to the title "Home of the Vulcan" Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, 18th / 19th July 2009 (http://www.airtattoo.com) Normally, I'd say that RIAT was most likely to see a Vulcan display because of the size of the event. However, the event had to be cancelled this year because of heavy rain and waterlogged ground - whether this will affect next year's arrangements, and how, I don't know. There has even been talk of a change of venue for next year (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/g...re/7506082.stm) (The above suggestions are purely a guess, as I have no way of knowing for certain what next year's schedule will be, and even if plans are published in advance they can change at *very* short notice. For example, uncertainty about whether the Vulcan would be authorised for display flying meant that this year's Waddington appearance was in doubt until just two days before the show opened.) It would also be worth checking the Vulcan Operating Company website (http://www.tvoc.co.uk) at regular intervals. Hope this helps, even if I can't offer any real certainty about next years' schedule. -- Dave not-me should be djw001 and there's no need for any wossname |
