The Army had a few of them (UV-18A)--a handful were assigned to duty in Alaska, IIRC, with the ARNG. I believe one was also used by the folks at the Airborne Test Board at Bragg, and maybe by the Golden Knights at one time to support training. The USAFA uses some for sport parachute dropping. There were reports a year or two ago of sightings of them in places like Afghanistan--who the operators are (USAF special operations types or the CIA) is proabably anyone's guess. Thanks, that's great info. This is for my son's school report. I knew
the Twin Otter was (and still is) used in survey ops, cold weather missions, etc., but hadn't found any US military uses. He chose this topic for his report because I wrote a book where a Twin Otter plays a starring role, so he was interested in learning more about the plane.
