My plane has the self stick wing walk anti-skid material and I wish to
remove it and apply Randolf's version. Any suggestions on how to
remove the self stick stuff??

Peel very slowly and carefully. You may want to start heating it A
LITTLE BIT with a hair dryer. After that, use MEK to clean the glue
residue, prep and paint away.

Mineral spirits is an excellent solvent for adhesives, but won't harm paint.
It is also great for removing tar and bugs from your car (or airplane for
that matter).
A little heat, a little mineral spirits, and those wing walks will come
right off. Too much heat and a little mineral spirits, and you may have a
problem...
