Looking to install an ELT, does anyone have any recommendations. The
ACK ELT-01 seems okay.
I dont want a 406MHz ELT as i'll be purchasing a portable 406MHz PLB to
supplement.
Thanks
Dean
Get the AK-450

It uses 6 Duracell D batteries and they're a lot cheaper to replace,
not to mention that you can use them in flashlights after you remove
them from the ELT.

Both the ACK E01 and the AmeriKing AK450 use D cells for the main unit
(there is another small battery in the remote panel).
The ACK uses 8 Dcells while the AK450 uses 6Dcells and has a mike jack for
transmitting voice. The ACK unit was a better machanical fit to replace the
old D&M in my Cessna, so that is what I got. But I think either one of
these units will work just fine. It looks like the AK450 is going for about
$30 less these days. YMMV

Don't you have to change your ELT to 406 Mhz anyway (B4 2009)?
check ARTEX 406 M
