GPS in overcast and mist by
William W. Plummer
My Garmin 12 is not able to get data from any satellites right now.
It's 2000 overcast, scattered 5 sm visibility. Normally the GPS works
very well in this area with reliable data from about 6 sats. I don't
think I want to be in a position where my handheld GPS is my only means
of nav.

Flying in Hong Kong by
Bartscher
I tried posting this earlier, but I don't think AOL cooperated:
I'll be in Hong Kong later in the month for business, and I've arranged to take
a flight in one of the Hong Kong Flying Club's Cessna 172s. I'm still in the
process of getting some info from the club contacts (who have been very...

NC Engine Out Landing? by
John A. Weeks III
I took a long road trip over the weekend. At one point, I was
driving north on US-52 just turning onto I-74 near Mt Airy in
north-central North Carolina. As I made the turn, a very low
flying airplane passed over the freeway. It had one engine
stopped and the prop feathered. I think it was a...

Scanner/Airplanes Question by
TeleTech1212
Hi.
I ran a bunch of searches but all I keep getting is a bunch of discussions
about taking a scanner onboard a plane.
What I am trying to figure out is what the sequence is for airplane
frequencies. I am near both MKE and MWC.
So, a plane wants to take off from MWC (Timmerman).
They contact...

Concorde Icing Experiments 1970s by
Mike Kenner
I'm looking for any information or photographs relating to the icing
experiments carried out with the Concorde during the early 1970s.
The experiments consisted of the Concorde flying behind a water
spraying aircraft (a A&AEE Canberra). Fine particles of water were
sprayed by the Canberra and the...

Hi All:
I maintain a web site with unclassified information regarding rocket and

After several weeks of work, I have finished extensively revising and
expanding my Viewing Vandenberg AFB Launches page

Cessna 120/140 parts catalog by

CESSNA 120/140 PARTS CATALOG
This 1965 Cessna publication has about 150 8½" x 11 pages. Apparently every
rivet, bolt, wire and airframe part on a Cessna 120 or 140 is shown on one
page, and identified on the adjoining page by a factory part number or an
AN-number. If you have any thoughts of...

Anti-Airport Pols Lose Again! by
Orval Fairbairn
This from the AOPA e-Pilot:
ANTI-AIRPORT CANDIDATES GET VOTED DOWN IN FLORIDA
Anti-airport hysteria didn't sell in Martin County, Florida. Voters on
Tuesday rejected all three of the county commission candidates running
on a platform of downsizing Witham Field in Stuart. And it was...

Amateur Question: Meaning of "Heavy" by
Robin
Hello,
I'm not a pilot by any means, but had a question that I thought I
could get answered here. When I fly on UAL I sometimes listen to the
cockpit radio on channel 9 from a general interest. Usually the pilot
will identify the flight by the airline and flight number (e.g. United
282), but...
