Is listening to ATC useful? by tjd
Mxsmanic wrote: Can I learn useful things by listening to ATC? Meaning apart from the general phraseology of ATC. It's interesting to listen to, but I'm not sure if it's productive. Seriously, you should listen to ATC 24/7 and you'll certainly start to learn something. Just don't type...

OK......since it has a "Catch" here's the answer by karl gruber
I gave Harmon Leonard a BFR about 20 years ago. He is long gone now but fancied himself quite an opera star. He owned a big freight company here in Seattle and was mostly retired. Bob Gardner will vouch for the fact that Harmon flew for about 30 minutes every day and his REPUBLIC TWIN SEABEE...

Idiotic News Reporters by Ron Snipes
After hearing all the speculation on the news today regarding the aircraft that hit the building in NY, I was watching the press conference Mayor Bloomburg was doing around 5:30pm. Some female reporter asked if the Flight Data Recorder had been found yet? (I'm not bashing female...

Interesting approach by Chuck Peterson
Just received this link. Video apparently produced by the contractor. The new Linzhi airport is at an elevation of 9,670 feet, and due to the surrounding mountainous terrain, could not be served by ground-based navaids. Therefore, the Chinese government commissioned the development of an RNP...

CNN crash video as capture by USCG by FLAV8R
Apparently the Coast Guard has some sort of video camera running that captured the impact of the Cirrus against the building. CNN has posted it on their website under "Watch Video". The video is of poor quality but you can definitely see the explosion upon impact. David

Airplane in NYC is a Cirrus SR20 by A. Sinan Unur
CNN is reporting that the pilot was a Yankee's pitcher: Lidle. He apparently got his license only 7 months ago. Bragged about how safe his plane was. I have a feeling this is similar to JFK junior's case of not knowing one's limitations. Sinan -- A. Sinan Unur...

Do not answer Mxsmanic by Greg Farris
He is not a pilot - yet argues with the most experienced of them. He does not participate in any threads other than the ones he initiates, which should serve as ample proof of his disingenuous nature. He throws out threads to provoke regulars here, admitting he "knows nothing" then argues and...

How much do you trim? by Mxsmanic
What I see in the literature seems to vary between warnings against spending too much trim or flying with trim tabs, and not ever trimming the aircraft at all. So how much and when should I trim? I understand trim to be a convenience, so that a pilot doesn't have to constantly maintain force...
