Castleberry elec. A.I. by
Michael C Finke
Does anyone out there have first-hand experience with the Castleberry
electric attitude indicator, which is sold through Sporty's? The price
sure seems right...
Thanks,
Mike

TRT-250 manual by
Juan Jimenez
I have an old TRT-250 transponder maintenance manual, for the ORIGINAL
analog TRT-250 (not the 250D digital version). This transponder is no longer
supported by Free Flight Systems and I suspect few shops take them in for
repair, as some of the parts are simply not available (most importantly,...

Pitot Static 411 413 followup post by
A Lieberman
Well, I finally got my plane to another place to get my .411 and 413 pitot
static / transponder check, and it went from bad to worse.....
First person inspecting said everything was fine except for the VSI not
being hooked into the static system.
I take it to the new place (where I had it done 2...

happy-box for roll steering? by
Dave Butler
In CNX80 User Newsletter number 1 at
http://www.garmin.com/manuals/GNS480_GNS480_CNX80_Newsletter_1st_Edition.pdf
on page 5, the author refers to "... a 'happy-box' that accepts the roll
steering output commands from the CNX80 and turns them into voltage outputs that
mimic the inputs from the...

Air-Oil Separators by
[email protected]
I am considering installing an air-oil separator in my 172H (Cont
O-300d). I have spoken with Airwolf who say theirs will work well and
is ALMOST STC'd but they "will provide the required paperwork to make
it legal until the STC comes thru" (whatever that means).
I also spoke with Aircraft Spruce...

KR-20 manual by
Juan Jimenez
For those of you who may find a need for this (which probably won't be too
many of you), I put my copy of a KR-20 marker beacon receiver install and op
manual (with pinouts, that's why I put it up), on the site. You can download
a small PDF file at http://www.bd5.com/kr-20.pdf

A+ for Mooney (M-18) Mite website by
Montblack
I've seen quite a few airplane web pages over the years. I have to say, this
Mooney (M-18) Mite site is one of the better ones I've seen. This site does
many, many, many things right, IMHO.
One very, very minor nit is ...the (very good) Photos/History page is one
level down, in the Articles link....

Insurance recommendations please by
City Dweller
Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone can recommend an insurance company for my new Diamond
Star. I am based in New Jersey. This would be a joint policy with my
instructor (I don't have my ticket yet). I have heard that Avemco is
overpriced, and I already submitted a quote request to Falcon. Any...

Do I need DME or ADF in an IFR-certified GPS panel? by
No Spam
Looking for thoughts out there...
If I have an IFR-certified GPS (terminal, not just enroute), is there any
reason to keep a DME or ADF in the panel? (Other than being able to listen
to am radio or tracking "non-offical" navaids - e.g., am radio stations!)
TIA,
- Don

Hi,
I´m looking for advice on mounting wheel fairings to a 1973 C150.

mounting plates ?
Thanks !

Geeky GPS question (PCI card, possibly off-topic) by
Tina Marie
I have an old Airmap 5000. It stores the data on a PCI card that
slides into the unit.
My database is now 3 years old. Lowrance stopped providing data
about 4 years ago, and a year ago Jeppson dropped support.
A web search didn't reveal anybody else selling databases.
Now, that data is on the...

Oil door departs the airframe by
Jack Allison
Friday on the takeoff roll from Minden, NV (MEV), the oil door decides
it's time to bail out. The latch has been a problem lately and the
whole door assembly had an appointment with my brother and his riveting
tools for a hinge and striker plate replacement. So, a co-worker and I
have just filled...

noise from Palo Alto airport by
[email protected]
Every day these noisy, small private planes from
Palo Alto airport destroy my living space.
They fly too low, and this causes their low
frequency motor noise to enter my home and
drive me crazy.
Especially on weekend days, there is either one plane
entering or leaving my airsapce, so there is a...

mil spec bolt headstamp question by
Jim Burns
While cleaning out a machine storage building we've discovered several
pallets of mil spec bolts and steel stop nuts. They are obviously old
aircraft military surplus, they are wrapped and boxed like only the military
would require. Most are cad plated, either gold or silver. The bolts have
head...
