Anti collision light mod for Piper Arrow 1968 model? by
Frode Berg
Hi!
We are doing some major upgrade to our Piper Arrow 180hp.
We are putting in a factory overhauled engine, upgrading the interior to
leathcer (seats, panels, new carpeting), installing an S-TEC system 20 one
axis autopilot, as well as a new Bendix/King KI208 indicator.
This airplane did not...

Glass Cockpit in Older Planes by
Charles Talleyrand
Occasionally older airplanes get new panels. Has anyone tried to
build a "glass cockpit" in an older GA airplane? How successful were
you, and what was the biggest stumbling block (paperwork, money, etc?)
In real life I fly a Cessna 150, so it will be a while before I get
the whole Garmin...

Cirrus SR22 Purchase advice needed. by
Dennis
I'm thinking of purchasing a Cirrus SR22, I seen it at Sun'n Fun (although I
have seen it before) and now I can not stop thinking about it.
I certainly can not afford to purchase one outright, but have a few people
at my local FBO that would be interested in partnering..
I would like to get...

follow-up on Navy suing man over restored Corsair by
xyzzy
There was some discussion a while back about a Minnesota man who was
restoring a wrecked Corsair and the U.S. Navy's heavy-handed attempt to
sue him for the return of the airplane and reimbursement for any
"damage" he did to it.
A happy ending may be forthcoming, as an NC Congressman has...

Colonel Bob Morgan, pilot of the famed "Memphis Belle" -- the most famous

following a bad accident. At his age injuries of any kind can be life
threatening, but in this particular case Bob actually broke his neck in a
bad fall at...

McCauley Pucker Factor by
Orval Fairbairn
This past Monday, a couple of my friends took off in a Bonanza with a
3-blade McCauley prop installed. At about 1000 feet, on power
reduction, one of the blades came unhooked from its pitch change
mechanism and went into "free pitch" mode.
It apparently made a lot of racket and bad vibrations...

Rain and autopilot unstable by
W9MV
I have an S-tec 55 in a 1999 Piper Archer III.
Last weekend I was in moderate rain in a climb out of 2000 feet (900 AGL)
heading for 6000 feet when all of the sudden the nose pitched down.
I pushed the two drains located in the cockpit when the event first occured and
it did not solve the...

FBO Insurance requirement for tie-downs by
Chris
A local FBO has the following requirement in its contract to rent
tie-down space. I would like to solicit opinions on who thinks this is
a reasonable request and why? My take is the FBO should have its own
insurance and not rely on mine for anything.
Besides the general requirement of proving you...

Comming close by
Tony
Have you came close to be in a mid air. Today was the most I flew in one
day around 6hours in the plane total and have never been closer to being
in a mid. I had to head down to my grandma's (she's not doing good)
around KFUL and I was in Vegas. Got up around 5:30am and got off the
ground at KVGT...

my manifold pressure gauge is being really slow to respond - was just

Portable GPS: receiver and laptop/palm or selft contained unit by
picopirate
With the rate at which GPS technology changes, I was wondering if its better
to go with a receiver interfaced with a laptop or palm so that the
software/maps can be updated more easily. Is that a misconception? What
solution provides the most functionality?
