That's right, TWO Oshkosh blow-outs, organized just for pilots and
their guests. Check 'em out:

transponder questions by
Road Dog
My transponder can't be seen by ATC anymore and I'm
trying to narrow down the cause and plan for the
repair. If it can be done simply by removing the
radio and taking it somewhere to be bench tested,
that'd be much easier for me. It's some vintage
of a KT76.
A couple of months ago, the altitude...

Removing Narco Radios by
Steve - KDMW
I know to remove a Narco radio (Com 810) there is a hole and you
insert a key... kind of like opening a CD-ROM tray with it powered
off. So, my question is, if I don't have this key, what makes a good
substitute? I tried using a 2" jewelers phillips screwdriver but it
apparently wasn't long enough....

Penalitel anit-corrosion coating by
Jon Woellhaf
On 2-11-82 my plane was treated with Penalitel (sp?) -- some brand of
anti-corrosive glop. I can't make out the correct spelling from the log
book. Have any of you heard of something that sounds like this?
It looks like amber/brown wax and is still soft in places where it's thick.
Too bad it...

Pinout / Schematic Request by
Darrel Toepfer
I'm looking for a Bendix T12D ADF schematic, for a friend (sent him the
pinouts, but he needs more info for troubleshooting an issue with it)
from this wonderful site: http://www.aeroelectric.com/Installation_Data
And the wiring pinouts for the TKM MB75 Marker Beacon Receiver or a
schematic...

Collins Pro Line vs Garmin G1000 by
Charles Talleyrand
I notice that the Citation CJ1s have Collins Pro Line and the Citation
Mustangs have Garmin 1000s. Does the Pro Line have any significant
advantages over the Garmin 1000? Which might be easier for the single
pilot to learn?

Still C85 Nose Leak by
Dick[_1_]
Previously this list advised a split seal is used on my flanged crank C85
and I then verified my case vent, hoses and air/oil separator system were
not blocked.
Since rather than pulling that spinner, prop, nosecone and cowl baffling to
install a new crank seal, would like to ensure I'm not...

Cessna 402 Fleet Grounded by
Charles Talleyrand
Cape Air, a local airline based in Hyannis, Mass., on Tuesday
voluntarily grounded 34 of its 49 Cessna 402 piston twins after
experiencing three engine failures in three weeks. "Several recent
engine abnormalities have led us to examine the wear-rate in one of
the engine components ... ... The...

the worst part of the year ... by
Kevin Clarke
Fellow R.A.O folks,
I hate this time of year, annual time. The reason I hate it is because I
am 2 wks in now and counting. How long does your annual take? It was 5
wks last year...
thanks,
KC

Changing LC2 Battery by
Steve - KDMW
I need to change the battery in my Astrotech LC2 clock. I've never
done this before and I can't find anything about it on line. Do I have
to pull the whole darn thing out to change the battery?

LLC ownership of airplane -- another twist by
xyzzy
There was some discussion of this concept in the newsgroup before,
with the consensus seeming to be that an individual owners get no real
protection putting his personal airplane under corporate or LLC
ownership. And now it turns out he might lose some protection, because
LLC owners are not covered...

CONTACT!! Er, I mean, CONTRACT!! by
Douglas Paterson
Thanks in large part to the help I've found on this board, I am nearing (I
hope!) the finish line on my path to airplane ownership. As of yesterday,
I'm under contract for the Socata Trinidad (TB-20) I've had my eye on!

That does leave me with one teensy questions...:

Fuel Prices For The July Pilgrimage by
RST Engineering
I'd like a consensus opinion from the newsgroup denizens who use any of the
popular "fuel pricing" websites as to the one that they find the most
accurate. My personal favorite over the last few years has been Airnav, but
I'm willing to be persuaded that there is better.
Reason being, about...

Sigmatek Aeon Vacuum pump? by
Doug Palmer
Does anybody have any real world data on this piston version of a vacuum
pump?
http://www.sigmatek.com/1U478-003/1U478-003%20Introduction.htm
I do not have an installation that readily allows a wet pump, and most of
the folks on our field believe that dry pumps are the worst idea that have...

HSI Recommendation? by
randall g
I have been informed that my HSI is precessing fairly rapidly. I'll
check it out in the air soon (plane is in annual). It's a Century
NSD-360A non-slaved unit. A refurbished unit will cost about $2700. Does
anyone have any recommendations for a replacement? The Sandel SN3500
looks nice, but...
