First emergency by
EventHorizon
I thought you might all find this story interesting.
Me, I'm 53 and have been flying since 1988 with about 1000 hrs. My
partner is a CFI and we've been in a Cherokee 140 partnership for about
12 years. We have a 1974 Cherokee Cruiser, which we normally keep well
maintained (!).
About a week...

Aviation applications for the Droid phone by
Bob
I am thinking about a Droid phone update. Are there any aviation
applications available for it? I suppose I could access airnav.com or
aeroplanner, but there might be something already customized. You
people that have one, comments?

Piper yoke pin SB by
Mike Noel
I took a quick look at the pin in the forward shaft that connects the
u-joint to the t-bar in my 74 Archer. Unfortunately there is no witness
hole, so the pin will be pulled to check for the pin to shaft end distance.
Has anyone found a witness hole in the shaft? I'm guessing that at some...

I remember one of the posters to this group bought an XL. I was wondering
how the AD is affecting him and how Zenith is helping with the situation.

Piper Arrow Shoulder Belt Tensioner by
John T[_8_]
My partner and I are having a discussion about how the original pilot's
shoulder belt tensioner is supposed to work in our 1978 Arrow III.
Currently, it always applies tension, which bothers him a bit during
long flights. He thinks it should latch or ratchet so that once it
finds a position,...

Grumman AA5 series....facts versus fiction question by
pgonzalez52
Hi folks,
I was in the process of purchasing an AA-5A cheetah this week and
spoke with the owner about it. Pictures looked good and the specs were
reasonable for the price. Then I inquire about damage and use. NDH,
great. But then came the bombshell. I asked and he said that he sees
around 112-115...

Cessna 150 Door Latch. by
brian whatcott
The exterior door latch paddle is spring loaded to
close - it opens in the "suicide" i.e. blow open direction.
The two coil springs holding the paddle closed were
made of regular steel, so they corrode and finally break.
Stainless springs are better.
It is a regular performance to remove the...

I did this flight with a discussion in mind with another Sundowner
pilot. He was saying best he could do was 95 knots with 2400 RPM in
his Sundowner which I thought were awefully low performance values..
Discussion with him does make me think, am I getting the most bang out

REPLACE GO-300 ENGINE WITH O-300 ENGINE IN CESSNA 175 by
nucleus
Has anyone here done this?
I am considering the acquisition of a C175a with a runout engine
and replacing the engine with an O-300 engine. Is there a kit for
doing this?
Does the engine mount have to be replaced? I am guessing
the airframe is just a C172 airframe. Am I wrong? Does the
cowling...

Full-throttle Take Off in Mooney M20J by
Evan Salant
I have read conflicting recommendations for take-off power in a M20J.
Some people seem to suggest that it's best to reduce MP/RPM to 25/2500
after 500 feet, while others suggest full throttle/2600 until cruise
altitude reached.
Any thoughts ?
