Looking for an ASW27/28 fuselage by
goneill
Here at our field we have an ASW27 with a badly damaged fuselage, anyone
know where a whole fuse or parts of one
are available ,even an ASW 28 one would do as they are virtually identical.

15 Meter Nationals Results by
Jeff Landfield
Due to weather conditions beyond our control that have not permitted
soaring here in PA for the last three days we have started a new
competition, ping pong. John Good is in a commanding lead by over 1000
points followed by the Pakistanie Adnan who is close behind. The
Polish guy, Rashad, from New...

Marfa TX by
Larry Watkins
I enjoyed 3 afternoons soaring with Burt Compton last weekend. I usually fly
in Indiana. The trip is worth the travel. Unusual scenery. Remarkable
soaring conditions. Burt and Kathie were wonderful hosts. The flying tips
and safety pointers coming from the back seat are very helpful. The best
part...

Canopy causes cockpit fire by
Bob C
Yesterday afternoon Mark Mocho (MM Fabrication) opened
the canopy of his Pegasus to get his cell phone. By
the time he made a call to me, his soaring hat, which
was lying atop the glare shield, was smoking. The
canopy was acting like a big magnifying glass and focusing
the sun's rays onto a...

The not-so-noisy jet Silent by
Howard Banks
Those of us who have actually heard Bob Carlton's jet-powered
Silent in the air can tell you that once it is off
the ground and more than a few hundred feet away that
it is a lot quieter than conventional motor gliders
such as the DG 400 or 800.When being run up on the ground and up close it...

PDA mount in PIK20B by
Derrick Steed
Can anyone provide pictures/diagrams of their arrangement of a PDA mount in
a PIK20B (the cockpit layout of the 'D is different, that's why I
specifically ask about the 'B. I am still wrestling with the best mounting
position - given the large arc that the stick can move in getting a position
which...

Admit your lie, tommy by
Lennie the Lurker
No facts, just an ego. Dig in google, the final straw of the down and
drowning. Just admit it, tommy boy, you shot off your overstuffed ego
and oversized mouth, and my foot is in it. I even made sure that you
were insinuating what I thought you were, and you swallowed the hook,
line and sinker. ...

Towplane Mirror by
Thomas J Johnson
I am looking for any suggestions on a good type of mirror for our
club's towplanes wing. I have a mount in place to accept a stud.
We have tried the 5 inch flat mirror, field of view too narrow. We
have tried a blind spot mirror, image at glider distance too small.
Any help would be...

New EU Pilot Certificates by
Nolaminar
Can someone tell me if all members of the EU have been issued new pilot license
certificates?
For those that have US certificates based on previous (old) licesnes, the US
certificate will no longer be valid.
The worse news is that the new procedure from the FAA is more complex than
simply going...

Commercial Pilot Glider license in EU by
Arnie
Is there a Commercial Pilots License-Glider in EU ?
I looked around in the CAA, JAA and EASA websites, but could't really find
this information.
In some coutries a CFIG (Instructor's) license gives you the right to work
and get paid as an instructor, even though you may not have a...

Older Pilots and Safety by
Bob Johnson
There's a good discussion of this subject in the current issue of
"Flying" magazine written by the editor-in-chief, Richard L. Collins.
This monthly is of course chiefly aimed at General Aviation (read power)
pilots but there are several points Collins makes that could profitably
be extracted for...

Trailer spare - who woulda thunk? by

So, I'm packing up the glider trailer and Grand Cherokee for a trip that
will end at the Alamogordo Soaring Fiesta on the 29th. The space is very
limited and I can't quite figure out how all the stuff is going to fit.
Then something catches my eye. The spare wheel for the Komet trailer and
the...
