Dick Johnson tests by
[email protected]
I have been on the search for Dick Johnson's flight test PDFs of the HP304CZ, Discus 2 and the Duo Discus but unable to find them so far. Would anyone from the states be willing to share them?
They are not easy to find when you live in Europe :(

Books? by
Entelin
It's winter here and I figure I should spend some of the time furthering my book knowledge of soaring. I fly XC and compete, but in hanggliders not sailplanes. I assume there are well regarded books from the sailplane perspective out there. I'm looking specifically for anything that gives me better...

10k Flights by
JS[_5_]
Today at Mountain Valley Airport, Tehachapi, California there were about 18 10k flights! Weather was 66F/19C and sunny, but no real lift.
Five of the flights were in three sport canopy equipped 1-26s participating in the annual Open Cockpit Regatta. We'll get some up on OLC.

Spot tracker renewal by
glidergreg
I have had a Spot tracker since 2009 and have never had to use it in an emergency thankfully. Was considering on switching to In-Reach which can be activated for only when I do trips out west once each year. My basic spot charges had increased from around $165 with tracking option in 2009 to close...

The Reformed Smoker Challenge by
JS[_5_]
With all the talk on 13.5m electric stuff, new class of "soaring competition" etc... A challenge for anyone currently flying only gliders with some sort of "method of propulsion":
Fly a season in pure glider to get your chops and credibility back up.
You don't have to buy a new glider, either...

Seminole Lake Accident by
[email protected]
Seminole Lake Gliderport had another accident. From what the pictures look like, the left wing of their Blanik L-23 was demolished from mid wing where it bent the leading edge all the way back to the spar.
Not sure what to make of this, if it will be covered up, or will there be an NTSB report. ...

Fuselage cradle - New carpet by
Colin Roney
Any ideas on how to keep the new carpet layer attached to
the complete steel curved surface until the glue goes off
apart from using the fuselage itself?

SSA 2018 Rules Finish Penalty by
[email protected]
Folks,
Please share your opinions with the rules committee before January 10. Here is my feedback:
Hank,
Happy New Year.
The 2018 rules changes look good with the exception of the finish penalty which is only a minor improvement over the previous -200ft land-out scenario from a competition...

Annual Contest Safety Report by
MNLou
I remember seeing an annual Contest Safety / Accident report published by John Cochrane each year.
Is that report still being issued? I don't remember seeing it the last couple of years.
Thanks!

New Year's Day Flight by
Dan Marotta
Patti wanted to fly and it was sunny at Moriarty so we went to the
airport.Â* It was very cold so we elected to take the Skywagon (cuz it
has a heater).Â* Taxiing out we met Mike Abernathy rigging his Stemme to
attempt to reach the wave on the Sangre de Christo Mountains about 50
miles to the...
