XCSkies and Skysight by
[email protected]
Up to this point, I've used XCSkies, but I keep hearing more and more about Skysight. I'm trying to determine if I should switch over for the 2020 soaring season. (For U.S. thermal soaring, no ridge/wave.) I've done a trial, but it was only seven days and I didn't really get enough experience with...

Unable to see page 2 on OLC? by
Waveguru
Often, but not always, I cannot get to the second or third page, when viewing North America daily scores to come up on OLC. I takes me to their page that lists the top three world scores. Anybody else have this issue, and is there a fix?

Is Wings And Wheels 'contact the seller' form actually working? by
Marton KSz
I want to inquire the owner of a 201 Standard Libelle (first page, red nose, red winglets) and sent a message via the W&W surface - no response.
Similar thing happened approximately a year ago while inquiring another owner - I found him via different channels and he said he hasn't gotten any...

1-26 & 2-22 available by
[email protected]
I recently rescued a 1-26C and 2-22C from long term storage included in a deal for another aircraft I intend to keep. When stored both gliders were in pretty good condition but accumulated a lot of mouse debris mainly in the lower fuselages. The seat cushions are gone as are the logs and paperwork....

VNE vs altitude: glider specs vs rules of thumb by
Bret Hess
Since some gliders (like mine) don't have tables of VNE vs altitude, I made a plot of relative IAS-VNE vs altitude from seven random gliders that do have tables in their manuals. I got most of it from BGA datasheets.
See the plots at:...

Parachute Static Line? by
Dee[_2_]
There was a question posed on parachute static lines from a previous thread that I don't think was addressed. How do you configure one? How long and strong a cable and what kind of clips to use? Some cockpits have an attachment ring for this purpose, but where do you clip it for those that don't?...

Clearnav vario GPS by
john firth
Three or so years ago, despite having been a Cambridge rep for many yeas, I bought a Clearnav vario , recommended by Dave Ellis. There are several screens
of programable options; I found accessing these
in flight using two knobs, even the audio volume, an impossible task; I confess that I am of...

Wing tip wheels, one or several? by
[email protected]
Our self-launch glider has downturned wing tips. From the factory, there was nothing more than a skid to make contact with the ground. Over time, people seem to have settled on putting a roller-blade wheel there, presumably because it dramatically improves ground handling. However, the wheel isn't...

Fly Deliberately. Fly Tasks - Proving Grounds by
Patrick (LS6-b EH)
Over the past few years at my gliding club (Cu Nim, Calgary Alberta), we’ve developed an XC development framework that in 2019 spread across Canada. Now we’re looking to share its success to clubs around the world (French and English speaking at this point).
The problem is the same for many of...

Skylines Trouble? by
Dan Marotta
Lately I've been having trouble with Skylines.aero.* It comes up with a
white screen with a blue progress line along the top.* After a long
wait, it simply stops with a white screen.
This is on my home computer.* It seems to work OK on my crappy hangar
computer which I leave up and logged in...

Wing wheel from Craggy Aero by
2G
I wanted to replace the Cobra wing wheel I had been using because 1) it goes with the ASH26e I have for sale and 2) the tire scrubs the tarmac as I go around turns, putting stress on the wing. I ordered the CA WingWheel from Craggy Aero because the wheel swivels with the direction of...

SH airbrakes hardware by
[email protected]
So, pardon me for not knowing proper terminology... this concerns the bolt/spring/elastic stop nut assemblies that keep the flexible cap strip on the rigid spoiler. Some of this hardware was showing corrosion, but when attempting to remove for replacement or cleaning, the head of the bolt (stud?)...

Flarm Antenna Extension by
MNLou
I'm in a situation where I need to elevate my Flarm antenna above the glare shield to avoid interference directly ahead of the glider(LAK17AT) due to the carbon nose cone. I'm getting a pretty nasty blind spot there.
I've seen installations where the Flarm antenna was elevated using a "paint stir...
