New Year's Day soaring? by
[email protected]
Back in the "Good Olde Days", we used to fly nearly every Jan 1st in southern Michigan, frequently with plenty of snow on the ground, and sometimes in the air. Does anybody still do this? It only counts if it's difficult! Floridians need not apply.

Use of 'Back up' camera with glider trailer by
son_of_flubber
Anyone use a camera on their glider trailer?
I'm thinking about mounting a backup camera(s) on the fin of my glider trailer (one pointed forward and one pointed backwards). My motivation is mostly to raise the odds during lane changes. I recently priced the hardware on Amazon. You can get a...

Connecting my 2 Batteries to 1 Solar Panel by
Dan G[_2_]
I would like to connect my 2 8AH batteries to one Solar panel for charging while the glider is in its trailer. I will use a controller and I have 2 separate sockets in the glider-one per battery.
I thought to simply split the wires coming out of the controller to the two batteries/sockets but I...

New gliding podcast 'The Glider Show' by
Sam Deeks
Hi, my name is Sam, new to this forum. I'm learning to glide in the UK (in between torrential rain showers!). I produce a bi-monthly audio podcast about my journey to solo and beyond at ukglider.com. It's early days and I hope to develop The Glider Show to be of interest to a wider gliding...

It's the solstice, so you won't be doing much soaring... but you might
want to read about it.
I put two new articles on my webpage

"Team flying." Pilot to pilot radio communication will be allowed at

Online user group for Arcus M or other self-launcher owners by
waremark
For a few years I have been flying an ASH 26. There is an active Google group for 26 owners which is enormously helpful. I have recently acquired an Arcus M, and wish there was somewhere to ask questions and share experiences with fellow owners of this great glider or of other self-launchers with...

Some Soaring Questions! by
Rtr
I'm an ASEL pilot and I'm really interested in gliding.
1.) Looks like theres a lot of way to enjoy gliding, such as cross-country, racing, giving instructing/rides, aerobatics, carving around in the mountains (ridge/wave), and your common playing-around-in-the-house-thermals. As far as cool...

Given: the MK IV yaw string is a fine product.
However, the Gallagher in me chuckles with the realization one of the recent most popular RAS topics regards installing or replacing a string.
This post makes 54...and surely more to come. Seemingly a topic for the next Soaring Symposium.

WinPilot locked up my Vertica 2 PNA - help! by
[email protected]
I've managed to lock my Vertica 2 PNA up with WinPilot, and can't get it un-frozen. Holding down the power button, even for an extended period doesn't do anything. Anyone know if there is a reset button?
If anyone else is trying to run WinPilot on a V2 in Landscape mode, DON'T launch the...

Replacing the MKIV yaw string - tips by
bumper[_4_]
Depending on how you store your glider, your MKIV yaw string should provide many hours of carefree soaring, free from that embarrassing "kluged tape on the canopy syndrome". How long? Anywhere from a few years to many more than I wish (planned obsolescence and repeat business being part of my...
