Question re towplane airworthiness (USA) by
Greg Arnold[_3_]
I am posting the following for my local glider operation:
"Our Pawnee has two airworthiness certificates, one for normal flying
and one, restricted, for towing. When towing it is operated with
specific limitations spelled out on an operators handbook supplement.
Our tow pilot believes that our...

Volcano view by
Martin Gregorie[_5_]
Just in case anybody hasn't noticed it, this link:
http://www.sat24.com/Eyjafjallajokull-volcano.aspx
gives a good view of how Eyjafjallajokull's plume is affecting the UK,
Scandinavia and Europe. The view extends from west of Iceland to the
south-east of Austria.

Front Electric Sustainer by
Greg Arnold[_3_]
I see that the webpage now has pictures of the latest design, with a
bigger prop, and a more streamlined attachment to the spinner. Also a
video of it running at Aero.
After the flight tests this summer, it will be interesting to get
information about its real world climb rate and...

Ever missed a connecting flight? by
kd6veb
Hi Gang
This was posted on SOG (Stemme Owner's Group). I am posting it here
and on RAS. Enjoy. Why don't we ever see this kind of stuff done in
the US?
Dave
Don't try this at home, but do be sure to watch the video after
checking the still shots.

Ashes to ashes... by
Andreas Maurer
ladies and gents,
a question came to my mind:
Are gliders (and towplanes) also affected by the UK airspace closures
due to the volcanic ashes?
Cheers

The Oudies Have Arrived by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I just received my first batch of Naviter Oudies. They are very nice!
There are many small software tweaks that make them easier to use. For
example, when selecting the comm port (the default is the internal GPS) the
selection list includes text which clarifies how each port is used (COM...

How to disable PDA connections to avoid error message? by
Barny
My HP5555 running Winpilot opens a pop-up error that I have to
manually close every few minutes in flight. "Unable to connect: You
have no modem entries created, and no network card present".
WP runs fine, just the error window blocking my view. GPS input is a
VL to SN10 to PDA, also working fine....

Release from tow, good procedure? by
glider[_2_]
Are we teaching the sailplane pilot to look for traffic to the left of
the towplane. There could be traffic just below and to the left that
the towpilot may not see.
If someone is low, to the left of the Pawnee do we hold on a bit
longer?
Your thoughts?

(which includes a lot of sailplanes) to fly only in day VFR had been
removed, and night VFR was now permitted in aircraft equipped with the
necessary navigation...

Jet two seat self-launcher nearing completion by
airshowbob
The TST-14 BonusJet is nearing completion. We ran the TJ-100 engine on
the airframe for the first time last Sunday. Everything is working
perfectly, and the tail temperatures were well below limits.
All that remains is some tidying up of the wiring, and installation of
the wing fuel bladders. ...
