Cobra Trailer Replacement Wheel by
Chip Bearden
Finally did it. Rolled up the rim on my 1992 Cobra when the tire
failed catastrophically on the way home from New Castle today. I know
some have installed aftermarket wheels on their Cobras. Anyone have
the specs for interchange?: bolt circle/pilot diameter/offset. These
are the 13" rims installed...

Peugeot video turns into a glider ad by
JS
Christopher McDonnell posted this on Aus-Soaring.
A 4-minute promotional video on YouTube for the Peugeot 3008, auto
towing a Junior.
Interesting to see the second comment: "I WANT ONE!! The glider not
the car."

Looking for a technical term by
Nyal Williams[_2_]
Is there a term for the difference between the angle of incidence of the
wing and the angle of incidence of the tailplane? I have heard/read
decalage used this way; however, wikipedia says decalage means the
difference between the angles of incidence between the two wings of a
bi-plane. (Thinking...

Silicon free polishes? by
Bernie[_4_]
Hello folks,
it's annual time and we plan to give our LS1-f a bit of a buff and
polish. A product called NuFinish was recommended, however a quick
Google search finds that it contains silicon and I understand that
this is not a good thing should any future repairs be required. Is
this correct, or...

SeeYou wind calculations by
GARY BOGGS CFIG
Here in Hood River, Oregon, USA, we usually have lots of wind and
sometimes when I view the flights on SeeYou, it shows the wind very
accurately and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't seem to matter if
there is a lot of circling on the flight or not. Sometimes when I
first look at the flight it...

Quick mental math for the cockpit by
5Z
One minute of LATITUDE is approximately a nautical mile. Use your
fingers as a crude caliper to measure distances on the chart.
Double the distance and multiply by 100 for 30:1
Triple the distance for 20:1
I'd set my GPS for STATUTE miles then use the above math while flying
the club's ASK-21...

Would anyone know the force of each lift strut on a clamshell type trailer.
Mine are on a Costabel and need replacement and the markings have long since

U.S.A.F. - C.A.P. take note from our Canadian neighbors by
karen[_2_]
Our local CAP squadron who has a very nice L-23, often seems more
about rules, restrictions and talking than flying.
Canadian Air Cadets produce a LOT of quqlified young pilots and share
it with the public as...

Where is the next thermal? by
danlj
I am writing this to ask experienced soaring pilots to correct me
where you have acquired different wisdom, or your local conditions are
different, or where you have something more to add.
I hope this turns into a thread on "How I keep going" - there must be
scores of pilots more excellent than I...

I would like to try XCSoar but am having trouble installing the
program on my iPaq 4705. When I go to the XCSoar site on my PC and
follow the instructions to download the latest version (5.2.4) I am
directed to a site with .cab files. No .exe files. After downloading

APRS TRacking today in Reg 12, So-Cal by
CindyB
Folks:
Many pilots have Spot tracking systems. There has been conversation
about the awkward access to pilot's flight tracks, antenna
sensitivity
to placement/orintation, drop outs in tracks.
If you would like to see a more mature system, with public display,
real time access, user selection of...

Barron Hilton Cup? by
Michael[_7_]
I was purusing the SSA website this evening and ran across a link to
the Barron Hilton cup. Is this biennial contest still active? The
last entry for any winners is in 2005. Just curious.
