Trig TT21 Transponder Thoughts? by
jcarlyle
I need to replace a Terra TRT250D (it's failed for the 5th time). The
only transponder that might fit into the Terra's rectangular cutout in
my crowded panel (if I do some horizontal filling) is the Trig TT21.
The Trig's specifications look good and it has an attractive price,
but it's brand new on...

Moisture in Winter Vario by
Wayne Paul
I have a HP-14 which is kept assembled and tied down on the ramp. This has never been problem until this Spring. (There has been far more rain then normal this year.)

Custom Bowden Cables? by
sisu1a
I'm having trouble finding someone simultaneously capable as well as
willing to make a cable for my brake assembly for my ship. Spruce
doesn't have any barrel adjusters, a common motorcycle part.... I
want the fancy swaged eyelet ends on a 3/32 cable (Spruce also only
offers .078 cable or I would...

Thinking that maybe a few of you aren't sure about the soaring quality
for the Region 10 contest in August...
This weekend conditions were such that according to the OLC-U.S. page,
Saturday's third ranking scored flight (and longest distance in the
U.S.) came from Greater Houston Soaring Assoc....

Extension cord gauge question by
Tuno
Yes, I know I'm a little OT here, but I am packing for Parowan :)
I recall someone once telling me that extension cords larger than 14
gauge (maybe he said 16) are a waste of money because the plugs at
each end are not rated for anything higher than what a 16 gauge wire
can provide.
Is this true...

WTB: Cobra Trailer Ramp Jack - US by
Gary Emerson
If, by chance, you've upgraded to the hydraulic jack and have a decent
condition dual scissor jack assembly that you'd be willing to part with,
please let me know. US preferred for shipping costs.
Thanks

OLC rules? by
GARY BOGGS
I looked through the rules and I can't see a limit to the number of
flights a pilot can submit for one day. Is it true that more than one
flight can be posted for a single day?

TE Compensation Question by
Hellman
I've been flying gliders for years, but the following question only
occurred to me recently: In mechanically compensated varios, the TE
pressure is supposed to be as much below static as pitot is above
that. That makes sense since "ram air pressure" increases as v^2, as
does the kinetic energy of...

Help - Do I fly Reno, or Elmira w/DJ? by
noel.wade
OK All,
I've been asking this question of some local pilots, and I haven't
heard an argument that's convinced me one way or another yet... So I'm
opening this question up for (hopefully) broader input. Your help is
much appreciated!
I'm a relative newcomer to the competition scene. I finished...

Loud noise upon braking by
Itsaplane[_2_]
Making a relatively low-energy landing in my DG-300 (s/n 3E1) on
Sunday, I modestly applied the brakes and instantly heard a loud
buzzing (?) noise. I released the brakes, the noise stopped, and I
reapplied the brakes and heard no noise with normal braking power.
This is a TOST drum brake.

It's been a LOUSY U.S. soaring contest season! by
John Bojack[_2_]
Can we all do a group hug, or something?
Perry was mediocre.
15m Nats got rained out.
Bermudah high had one good day, but did get a contest in with some rather
weak weather.
And finally, Caesar Creek had their typical rain-out to keep things going.
What have we done to deserve this?

Relief Tube Housing - Unsafe by
Tim Taylor
I pulled the seat pan in my Ventus 2 for the first time to find the
relief tube housing to be a 10 inch long sharp ended aluminum tube
epoxied to the bottom of the fuselage. Needless to say if you have
one of these in your glider I encourage you to get rid of it ASAP. I
would hate to see what...
