Trailer Light Replacement by
olddogcirrus
Hi All,
Have an older Komet trailer with the original European tail lights.
The plastic lens are really faded, and the internal corrosion is
getting bad.
Thinking of replacing the lights with the newer LED Euro lights. The
existing lights are the original Euro 4-wire types that are...

UK Air Accidents by
Graham Drinkell
Recent Air Accidents/Incidents appear to have been very poorly reported by
the press. Especially when light aircraft are involved. They are extremely
unknowledgable, wether a paraglider (or other a/c) / RAF training a/c is
involved?

GNII Max Alt warning by
Andy[_1_]
As implemented in the latest version the maximum value of Max Altitude
is limited to 15,000ft which is not useful in SW USA. It should be
obvious to anyone that the limit should be setable at least as high as
18,000ft. In fact there is no reason for any hard limit at all as the
pilot may fly in a...

PDA's in flight by
Brad[_2_]
Anyone else running XC flight software on a PDA find them to be
sluggish and almost unuseable during a flight? I am using an iPAQ 3850
running XC-Soar, the unit is hooked to a Garmin Map60CS. Sure
everything works, but while in the air, if I push a button or touch
the screen somtimes it takes...

Ball vario overhaul? by
Anthony Turiano
My wife and I have recently acquired a 1-26B with a
Ball 400/6 (not a new installation). It is plumbed
parallel with a Winter mech. (and T.E. probe). Since
we acquired it, the Ball indicates climb pretty much
at all times, and no amount of adjustment (red knob
on back), setting selections, etc....

GLIMMER OF HOPE by
Ed Byars
Sorry guys, this morning another bout of "diarrhea of the keyboard" struck
and out came a proposed "letter to the editor" of SOARING. I decided not to
wait the month or more (and/or the probable rejection) for your reaction, if
any.
So, here 'tis. Fire away.

WinPilot 9 questions by
T8
Does anyone know how to get circular start gates to work correctly in
WP 9?
I cannot get the arm start/auto start process to work with circular
gates and when I start manually the speed on task is never correct
(starts very high).

How to - Tint a Plexiglass Canopy by
Spam
I would like to tint the canopy on my asw-15.
I have heard that plexiglass does have gasses that are constantly
released and will damage regular car tint applied to it. Would static
cling tint sold from homedepot work for it?
Anyone ever seen or heard of a glider tinted with film?
The curvature...

Dear All: I'm having problems with the linkage for the retractable

Bad fortnight in the UK by
Ian
There has been a midair today - sounds as if the glider pilot
parachuted out, but no word about the occupant(s) of the light
aircraft. From the BBC photo it looks like G-CXHZ, which is an LS4.
This follows a fatality yesterday and another at the Mynd two weeks
ago - a friend there tells me it was a...

Soaring Powerpoint by

Does anyone have an "Intro to Soaring" PowerPoint they'd be willing to
share? I'm looking for something that targets teens, covers basic
aerodynamics and has some graphics and maybe some videos. I was going
to try to put one together myself but figured I'd ask here first as
I'm barely competent...

Water ballast bag replacement surprise... by
Itsaplane[_2_]
Today I pulled out the RIGHT-side water ballast bag from the wing of
my DG-300 (s/n 3E1). Before I began this I noted 3 strings sticking
out (two white, one yellow) and was prepared to attach a line to the
one that began to disappear into the wing as I removed the bag (this
string would be...

would an AOA indicator be helpful in a glider? by
mooseknuckel1
I am not a glider pilot, although I have been up with friends a few
times in the past, but I know the basic instrumentation is pretty
limited- and for good reason. However, would an AOA indicator increase
the efficency of gliding enough at best L/D, min sink and other
specific angles of attack...
