Danish Soaring Society DSvU discussion forum closed! by
Lars Peder Hansen
Dear RAS'ers: This is a warning.
Lately, there has been a bitter personal feud between a small handful of
persons in the management of the Danish Soaring Society (DSvU), and a few
fellow pilots. It seems that no one is able to explain exactly what they are
arguing about, but this has not...

Tim Taylor
As the cold weather is appraoching in the northern hemisphere what
antifreeze can be used safely in integral water ballast tanks such as
in my Ventus? Also where do you buy it at a reasonable price?
I am guessing the maximum use would be about 25% v/v at any time. I
think I could often use 2gal...

Water for Wintery FLights by
Steve Leonard
Another option, of course, is to just fly dry. Accept
the lower speed and the rougher ride in turbulence,
and just fly. Heck, it has been done that way before!
As for studies, I remember hearing of Bob Barber flying
his Mosquito wet, high, under a cloudstreet in Colorado.
He would get...

Nobel prize winner is a glider pilot by
Eric Greenwell
Oliver Smithies, along with Mario Capecchi and Martin Evans, was awarded
the *2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine* on Monday.
Oliver Smithies flies a Grob 109B motorglider out of Chapel Hill, North
Carolina, USA, and is an SSA member. Apparently, glider pilots CAN be a
credit to their...

Yet another potential source of lift?

The question is how long do they last and how far they propagate?
And, of course, how do you catch one?

Hard Water Deposits by
[email protected]
The only negative thing I can think about when flying from Moriarty,
NM is that unless you want to spend big bucks on distilled water, you
have to use the local stuff which leaves hard water deposits on the
glider.
Does anyone have any good solutions, (yes, pun intended) for this
problem?

Removing old contest ID? by
Bill[_11_]
I'm sure this has been discussed in the past, but I can't find a record of
the thread.
I need to remove old painted ID from gelcoat and replace with new vinyl.
What is the best method? Acetone? Wet sanding? Other options?
Thanks much,
Bill
