Badge evidence question by
Roger Worden
I'm planning my Silver distance flight. After reading the Sporting Code and
several guides, I still have a question.
I'll be using a Volkslogger, and I'll be winch launching. My planned Finish
Point is lower than my Start Point, so I have to very be careful about the
1% rule. The guides talk...

Ridge Soaring accident by

I'd love to hear his story of survival on a wet and cold mountain
side. What did he have with him to survive with? Any sort of kits?
What were the contents?

I'm in the process of researching ELT's for my Discus 2. Problem is
with all that carbon fiber, I don't know were to install the antenna.
Any suggestions?
Zulu
P.S. Wags with alternate suggestions as to where to stick the
antenna, please remember this is a family site.

Cobra trailer wiring diagram by
Tuno
Is there a softcopy someone can send me? ... or any helpful reference?
The running lights on my 2002 Cobra work properly but I get strange
results with the turn signals, testing with three different tow
vehicles.
Are there any caveats I should be aware of in using 6-way-round to 4-
way-flat and...

winpilot assigned area task by
[email protected]
I am new to using winpilot. I like the software but the documentation
is a little weak. Setting up an assigned area task it asks for min
distance and max distance . Would the answers be the radius of the
turnpoint. e.g. 10 mile radius equals 10 mile minimum, and 10 mile
maximum.
Is there a winpilot...

Does anyone know of a US source for the standard latch used on most
sailplane dollies. This is the adjustable pull down latch.
Thanks

Insurance increase! by
Roger Worden
I just received a letter from AIG stating that rates are going up. (I have
"non-owned" coverage for rental ships and for liability.) Then my renewal
letter from Costello states that my new AIG policy "will not be a part of
the Soaring Society of America Group Insurance Program." And the rate...

Soaring Hats by
[email protected]
I hope someone from "down under" can help me. My source for terry
cloth bucket type hats in the USA had dried up. These were made in
Australia under the name of TOWELL'N HAT" and sold by "Superior
Sportswear PTY, Ltd.
These make great soaring hats as the brim is just the right size and
on hot...

slips to landing in PTS by
BB
RAS fans may be interested in the results of an investigation by an
instructor/examiner in our club. The question is, do the PTS really
require a slip all the way to landing without ever touching the
spoilers?
(Why? We fly from a short runway, surrounded by houses and trees, and
we have modern,...

Distance wood has flown by
Steve Leonard
Nyal Williams worte:
'Al Parker and Ben Greene set a world distance record
from either Marfa or Odessa to Kansas (I believe Salina).
If memory is correct, Ben was still flying his SH-K.'
I think Ben's flight was from Odessa to Great Bend,
Kansas. And it was in an Austria S, not the later
SHK. I...
