Dumping ballast in a gaggle, bad etiquette or poor sportsmanship? by
chris
I fly glider with an old wortman airfoil, it hates getting wet. Its'
sinkrate goes up considerably, and I've even felt the whole glider
rumble when flying in rain.
At a recent contest I was flying in very weak "survival" conditions
and was very happy to find a 1.3 knot thermal. I started...

Painless Removal of External Male Catheter? (ouch) by
ContestID67
Ever since my first contests and XC flights I have been wearing an
external male catheter. Putting these things on is easy. Taking them
off is another matter altogether. I know they have to be sticky or
they might fall off at an inopertune time but jeez-la-wheez they sure
can stay stuck and are...

60 Days for Calibration by
[email protected]
I was recently told that if a FR was out of calibration and you flew a
badge leg, you *now* had 60 days instead of 30 to get the calibration
done. If that is the case, could someone post a URL to the document? I
get a headache and nosebleed on the FAI site trying to find stuff, and
I could find no...

Getting started in the OLC League this weekend by
Doug Haluza
We now have well over 100 clubs set up and ready to compete in the OLC
League in the US. So now it's time to work on how to get started in the
competition. It may take a while for clubs to catch on, so the early
adopters will have a big advantage. As long as one club member scores
on one day of the...

Pacific Scientific seat belt part needed by
[email protected]
Does anyone have the metal web end fitting that plugs into a Pacific
Scientific buckle that they would be willing to sell? The webbing is
not necessary, just the fitting. I would like to set up a crotch strap
in my ship.
Thanks
Kurt

LX20-Secret Key Not Valid! by
Ken Ward
I had to open my LX20 last night to replace both the 9v NiCd which
wasn't holding a charge with a 9v NiMh, and the small watch battery
which was dead. I reassembled it, connected it to the charger, and hit
the ON button.
It starts beeping and displays the message "Secret Key Not Valid!"
I...

10 rolls gap tape $20 postpaid in US by
TJ
I got tired of using 3/4 inch electrical tape as
gap tape. A friend ran off some 25mm (approximately 1 inch)
tape for me.
This works well for me. It is similar to the 3/4 electrical tape,
but wider and slightly thinner.
Unfortunately, to get him to do a production run, I had to
take more than I...

Glide Loops by
[email protected]
Loops are probably the most innovative way to share gliding pictures
over the net.
So mount your camera, take your pictures, and share them with the rest
of the soaring community with this new technology.
See a sample at http://mindensoaringclub.com
Enjoy!

Nose hook addition by
Jack
I have a PIK-20B and really would like to add a nose tow hook. It's
licensed experimental, so what, other than a 337, would I have to do.
It seems I remember a Schreder-type tow hook added to a German glider
at TSA some years ago. I don't remember who owned it. This glider
originally had only a CG...

Europe to NA shipping by
ADK
On a suggestion from rec.aviation.homebuilt, it was stated that sailplane
drivers do occasional transoceanic shipping. so here is my post from that
newsgroup:
I am looking into shipping an Orion kit from Europe to Western Canada in
June or July. If anyone needs to ship (via ocean) from Europe to...

S-H safety harness (V2C) by
[email protected]
An annoying property of my Ventus 2C is that the safety harness does
not hold me into the seat. When encountering turbulance my upper torso
leaves the seat and my head ocassionally hits the canopy.
The position of the shoulder strap anchors aft of the cockpit is high
enough that no downward force...
