Littlefield Glider Club by
Jack
I'm being promoted and moved to Clovis, NM. I had thought I would end
up in Amarillo or Albuquerque, but the boss said it's Clovis. I flew
out of Littlefield in the early '90s in a Region 10 contest, and
thoroughly enjoyed it. Is that club, I think it's Caprock Soaring,
still active? If not, what...

Phew! by

Apparently Hemet Ryan Airport was flooded with 200,000 gallons of raw
sewage. Commisserations to the three soaring operations there.

Watch 60 Minutes on Nov 6th by
Roger Worden
From a semi-reliable source:
"On September 20th, CBS's 60 MINUTES crew came out to Seminole-Lake
Gliderport, Clermont, FL. where they had scheduled bringing a "Mystery Man"
Glider Pilot for a glider flight check-out and filming. Knut Kjenslie, owner
and operator of the Gliderport found out the...

Gap Tape by
TJ
I normally assemble and dis-assemble my glider
each time I fly. As a result, I go through a fair
amount of gap tape each soaring season.
In the past, I have used the 3/4 inch electrical
tape to save on cost. The problem is that 3/4
inch didn't work as well as the 1 inch tape.
I tried several...

Low cost oximeter by
Eric Greenwell
Mountain High Oxygen is now selling a low cost oximeter ($199):
http://mountainhighoxygen.com/index.phtml?nav_id=28&product_id=424
At this price, anyone that flies with oxygen ought to get one, and be
sure their oxygen system is actually doing the job. Besides the low
cost, it's LCD display gives...

HUMOROUS ANECDOTES by
[email protected]
How about sharing a few hangar flying stories? I'll start:
A friend of mine was flying his glider in a contest. He had been out
on task for some time, and still had a way to go when nature called.
He had no relief system in the glider but a search of the cockpit
turned up a latex glove.
Ever the...

Want manual for Dittel FSG 77 M radio by
Eric Greenwell
If someone would send me, or point me to, an electronic copy of this
manual, I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to help a club member with an
intermittent squeal in his transmissions. We've already tried exchanging
it with another one, but it also has the squeal, so I'm suspecting it's
the installation,...

Why I wont buy from Paul by

Paul Remde wrote:

Paul Remde's post is exactly the sort of blatant solicitation that has

the same egregious commercialization of RAS. If all were like...

Naresh & Diana II by
Bubba
Let's get off this! With a sport in declining numbers, this forum topic
has turned into a steaming pile and is a despicable representation of
our sport and it's pilots. It appears that Naresh is the pivot man in a
circle jerk. Move on!

Debacle: Flight test of Diana-2 by

Hi All,
Recently, I was invited by the Diana-2 dealer to be part of the
potential customer flight tests in Switzerland. It was a humiliating
fiasco. I've written about it on my blog www.neshe.com Please feel free
to browse.
In a few days, it will also contain a technical part with photographs
and...

Aerodynamics of carrying water by
Gene Whitt
Y'all,
Been many years on rec.aviation.student but even more years since
gliding. Unable to explain the 'why' of water ballast to increase
performance in gliders to argumentative airplane student.
I need a simple explanation in 25 words or less.

Why I wont buy from Paul by

Paul is one of the most dedicated vendors for soaring

community is, and how the soaring community is shrinking...you
should go OUT OF YOUR WAY to do business with Paul
and Tim and Tom because they are investing in a shrinking
market that YOU...

Flarm by
Mal
From my reading of flarm and my limited knowledge about the product.
I understand that you could in theory have the location of other gliders on
screen and use it to your advantage during a competition given that it
transmits such data?
